The join is for use between the overlapping ends of the strap, in whose edge lugs are formed by cuts, after which the lugs are bent out of the plane of the strap. The lugs which are bent upwards are expanded parallel to the lengthwise direction of the strap, while tongues bent downwards from the top strap end hook behind the edges of the lugs in the bottom strap end. Lug expansion can be effected by squeezing. The operation can be effected by a toggle-operated lower knife working against an upper one fixed on mounting bolts, the upper one consisting of two parallel blades, between which, on the bolts, there are spring components, with a notching piece on each bolt opposite the lower knife bending faces. The spring components can be in the form of elastic O-rings.
