A universal device to measure and transpose constructional details of planes drawn on sheets and linked to form a continuous strip has a rotary carrier with a sharp edged measuring and transposing edge to extract and transpose values from the continuous plan strip onto another drawing or plan. A special projection system acts as an auxiliary aid to plot the values and preferably is of a cone-shaped design in which the angles can be adjusted. The system can be coupled to a stereo-microscope, optical projector, or an optical fibre etc.
