The glass ampoule is for medical or pharmaceutical products, and is destroyed when it is put into use where the ampoule is weakened in a section which is not sharply defined in the cylindrical region of its wall by means of surface treatment. This surface treatment can be by mechanical machining or chemically by an etching process. For filling the ampoule with a fluid, the ampoule is supported in the hollow shaft of a deformable implement. This design of ampoule is easily destroyed but practically excludes glass splinters.
