The brass contains (by wt.) 3-21% Zn and 2.5-7% Si, giving, together with is not 0.03% of 1 of As, Sb and P, and bal. Cu, a consistent dissoln.-resistant alpha/ structure on rapid cooling from 500-760 degrees C to room temp. The protection is not adversely affected by Pb addns 1.5%.
