Control of production track motion for car body spraying - involves pre-programmed analogue function generators

A tachogenerator coupled to the moving production track supplies signals to a pulse generator coupled to control logic. When the main relay is opened the pulses are transmitted via control logic to a stepping motor. The stepping motor controls the position of a potentiometer so that 6000 pulses provide full action corresponding to an output change from 0 to 60 V. A counter is used to count the number of pulses generated which will depend upon the type of car body to be sprayed. Six function generators allow the programme to be selected for a particular body profile. When the predetermined number of steps have been completed the system is reset and the spray gun is moved vertically using a regulating unit, consisting of amplifier, servo-valve and motor (21).
