A special bed to allow exposure of a patient's back to a herbal vapour has a herbal vapour generator set below the lumbar section and across which the patient is supported by special support pillows which divide the head from the foot section of the bed. Inclusion of another specially shaped pillow section turns the bed from a lumbar vapour exposure system into a rather more conventional support bed. A special insert must also be put in place to support the additional pillow section. Means are also provided to regulate the extent to which the herbal vapour is heated.
