The vapour generator has a number of vertically aligned fluidised beds and incorporates a heat recovery enclosure adjacent a furnace section housing the fluidised beds. A convection enclosure is adjacent to the heat recovery enclosure. The boundary walls define the enclosures and are made up of interconnected tubes through which a fluid is passed in a predetermined sequence. Effluent gases from the fluidised bed compartments pass through the two enclosures and as they do so, given up heat to fluid in the boundary walls.
