The support stay has at least one expandable socket which is movable backwards into the socket against resistance by the rotation of a strut bolt. For at least one of the parts, which during the expansion process take over, forces originating in the displacement tool have a theoretical breaking point provided for. A two part body is provided, the inner thread of which accommodates the bolt forming the inner core component, and which has at least one projecting spring disc as a stop for an outer strut component which is contact with the inside of the socket. Behind the spring disc a second fixed stop is provided.
