Mechanical self-acting valve for rinsing bedpans - with cold, then hot water, finally shutting off both supplies separately

The device contains one cold-water valve and two hot-water valves which act alternately. Depression of a piston empties a water-chamber through a non-return valve. Water leaking back into the chamber through a nozzle, fed from hot water inlet returns the piston to its start, at which point the cycle of operation is complete. Meanwhile, the downward movement of the piston has substituted one hot water valve for the other, leaving the hot water still cut off, and opened the cold water valve. This starts the cold water flow which continues until leakage through a small hole into the back of the cold water valve equalises the pressure and a spring returns the valve to its seating. During this time the piston, moving up, substitutes the other hot water valve for the first one, reversing its previous action, slowly, so that hot water, flows first mixed with cold.
