Squirrel-cage motor with controlled torque - has active cylindrical rotor on power transmission shaft, with slidable passive rotor for torque reduction

The motor consists of an active cylindrical laminated rotor mounted on the torque transmission shaft and enclosed by the stator assembly and a passive rotor mounted on the shaft next to one end of the active rotor. Both rotors are rigidly attached to a tube which fits over the shaft, and may be moved axially along it by an externally accessible, torque adjusting screw. Screwing the screw into the motor housing slides the whole rotor assembly along the drive shaft so that the active rotor place in the stator is progressively taken by the passive rotor, thus reducing the torque.
