Bayonet fixing for gland packing retainer - has recesses for bolt fixing heads of valve spindles for rapid removal

The body of the valve has two diametrically opposite lugs extending for slightly less than 90 deg. on its outer edge. The inner part of the gland retainer has matching recesses which allow the retainer to be secured by pressing it onto the valve body and then rotating it through 90 deg. The inner part is provided with recesses to suit the heads of the fixing bolts which secure the outer part of the retainer when the nuts are tightened. The gland packing can easily be renewed by slackening the nuts and depressing and rotating the inner member.
