The meter comprises temperature measuring devices to measure the difference between the flow and return temperatures of the heating medium, a volume gauge for the heating medium, and a device which computes the emitted heat from the temperature difference and the volume. The temperature measuring devices measure the return temperature, and a device, preferably a monostable multivibrator, corrects the measured quantity of heat by means of a correction factor which depends linearly on the return temperature to allow for the variation in specific heat and density with temperature. Errors caused by variation in heat carrying capacity with temperature are thus avoided.
