The assembly is designed to remove branches and twigs from the trunks of trees lying on the ground. It comprises a set of jaws, provided with a cutting edge, which lock round the trunk. It is attached to a vehicle, especially a tractor, and drawn along the trunk from the root end, which is held fast. The end is preferably held by a grab, which may be attached to a second vehicle moving in the opposite direction at the same time, and which may likewise be formed as a stripper. The main assembly comprises preferably two jaws mounted on a support plate, with knife edges facing the operating direction. An effective strike is maintained throughout,. regardless of the size of the tree.
