Compsns contg sorbitol and a corticoid or pyrazolone - - suppression of ulcerogenic effects

Compsns. contg. sorbitol (I) and either a corticoid or pyrazolone deriv. (II) have the normal activity of (II) but without the gastor-duodenal ulcerogenic props. of (II). The dosage of (I) is generally less than 5 g./day, while the dosage of (II) is that used conventionally. Administration is by the oral or parenteral routes. In an example, tablets were prepd. contg. 50 mg. dexamethasone acetate, 200 mg. sorbitol, and excipients to 1 tablet.
