A semi-finished product or component of sheet metal comprises =2 sheets, spaced apart, with an intermediate layer contg. voids, between these sheets. Prefd. arrangements comprise sheets with ribs arranged back to back to provide central voids; sheets joined together with a honeycomb structure between them; sheets with an intermediate layer including a foamed plastics. Prefd. adhesive used is epoxy resin. Advantages are lightness of weight and, when handling corrosive substances, that only one side of the composite sheet needs to be of suitably resistant material.
