Spindle is supported within pref. an inner sleeve by a joined bearing and a co-axial thrust bearing located at the bottom of the sleeve and in which the lower end of the spindle seats. The twist bearing is supported by a resilient bush and is immersed in an oil bath contained in the inner sleeve. The spindle pref. carries a platform which can be connected via a friction clutch device to a drive pulley which is pref. driven by a belt. Pref. the inner sleeve is surrounded by an outer sleeve in the bottom of which is secured the resilient bush and pref. the lower end of the thrust-bearing has a central depending stem which locates in a recess in the bush.
