Strip steel having improved bending strength - for punch knives for cutting leather textiles, plastics, paper, carton or the like

Knives with a hardened cutting edge must have superior bending strength for cutting or punching, esp. leather, and are made of steel having the compsn. 0.45-1.0% C, 0.01-0.15% Si, 0.2-1% Mn, 0.10-1% Mo, O-2% Cr, 0-1% Ni, 0-1% W, 0-0.3% V, balance Fe and impurities. The knife body has a hardness of 30-45 HRC of which the cutting edge has been hardened by means of induction-, flame-, resistance- or plasma hardening to at least 50 HRC. The steel may contain 0.01-0.20%, pref. 0.05-0.15% Al. Suitable for punching out textiles and leather, such as uniforms and military boots.
