The invention concerns a portal frame with columns and pitched beam joining them. Such frames are intended for hangars or similar buildings. The ridge and two column joint sections are made up from sheet steel. Each joint is formed from a steel plate shaped as a wide V (50). To the inside and outside edges of the plate are welded flanges. At the point where the joint connects to the column or beam, there are connector plates which are welded to the joint. The outer parts of the connector plates are drilled so that they may be bolted to the adjacent member.
