Electro-mechanical character display system - electrically controlled rectilinear segments placed separately by mechanical displacement

Character display device, has the rear of the display panel painted a first colour & has rectilinear windows cut in it. Moving panels behind the fixed panel, each have a band of the first colour and at least a band of a second colour, and can be displaced by electrical means such that in the 'rest' position the first colour appears in the corresponding window, whilst the second colour appears in front of the window in the 'display' position. The moving panels may be displaced in front of the windows by rotation or translation motion.
