A sprung bar (1) passes through the water tank overflow outlet pipe (2). One end of the sprung bar (1) is located under the toilet seat which it raises slightly because of the spring (4) at its other end. Pressure exerted on the seat activates the sprung bar and compresses the spring. This causes levers (6) to swing and, by means of a catch (7), they become locked under a notch (8). When the pressure is removed from the seat the spring (4) in regaining its original position activates levers (6) and notch (8) fixed to overflow pipe, thus raising the ball cock (9) and flushing the toilet.
