Layout for very large group floor shop - linear or loop paths are traversed by moving chairs with baskets

The system is designed to present the whole range of merchandise in a continuous line and envisage the transportation of customers along these lines which have linear or loop corridors traversed by moving chairs with baskets. The customer is, thus ferried at a constant rate past succeeding shelves etc, where goods are suitably arranged for "self service", until reaching the terminal "cash" desk. Typical layouts are a series of parallel straight lines or two axially parallel helices which unite to form a continuous loop. A chain of evenly spaced chairs traverses each line and is connected to a motorised endless belt which locates in a floor groove which also houses the rollered chair base plates.
