Distillation plant in which used solvents are purified for re-use consists of a heat-sensitive liquid, such as a light mineral oil, circulated between a heated boiler and an evaporator, in a circuit which is connected to a vacuum system at about 60 to 90 torr via a condenser. Used solvents are drawn into the evaporator where they flash off the surface of the heating liquid, the vapour being carried into the condenser from which distillate is collected. Mean-time, impurities from the used solvents settle in a decantation hopper underneath the boiler and are continuously discharged through a rotary seal valve.
