The split housing for the windscreen wiper drive is sealed automatically in the production process. The sealing is made by attaching injected plastics on the projections of the housing. The drive unit is assembled within the housing halves and the whole assembly is placed into an injection moulding mould. The sealing and clamping force is produced by the shrinking of the plastics seal during hardening. The sealing element is injection moulded with plastics on the projections of the housing. A locating rib and groove may be provided on the contacting surfaces between the flanges.
