Cooling fan fitted to air-cooled IC engine - has fluid coupling in chamber behind rotor

Cooling fan fitted to an air-cooled i.c. engine is driven via a fluid coupling, and is fitted in a chamber behind the rotor in the flow direction of the cooling air. Preferably a reduction gear is built in between a drive shaft and the fan shaft behind the chamber of the coupling, in the cover of the engine housing. The drive shaft is axially parallel to the axis of rotation of the fan. The floor of the housing cover contains a flange used to attach the fan to the upper part of the engine housing. The fan is compact and gives efficient cooling.
