Aerosol cap released by tear-off ring - has inner ribs engaging can top and outer ribs joining ring to cap

The plastic cap (1) has a number of small radial ribs (2) on its inside surface. Each rib has a projection at the lower end which clips underneath an annular rib (3) forming part of the top (4) of the container. On the outside surface of the cap is a ring (5) attached to the cap by several straight ribs (6). The underside of the ring has a flange (7) which grips underneath a rolled lip (8) around the upper edge of the container, locking the cap in place. To release the cap a tear off tab externally of the ring or formed by a gap in the ring is pulled to break the straight ribs (6).
