The steam generator consists of upper and lower drums joined by a number of vertical water tubes. The steam generated is discharged at an upper outlet. an economiser is connected to the boiler by means of a feed pipe. The economiser is supplied with make up water through a vertical feed pipe and a horizontal feed pipe (10). Make-up water is supplied to the upper end of the vertical feed pipe. A supply line from the upper drum and ending in a number of discharge holes enters the vertical pipe just above the make-up pipe. Below the two discharges into the upper end of the vertical pipe is a Venturi which lowers the pressure and allows mixing of the two supplies.
