1380499 Detection of hydrogen peroxide or a peroxidative active compound MILES LABORATORIES Inc 29 Feb 1972 [1 March 1971] 9388/72 Heading G1B A composition for detecting hydrogen peroxide or a peroxidative active compound by the catalytic oxidation of an indicator by hydrogen peroxide in the presence of the peroxidative active compound comprises as indicator Bindschedler's Green (4, 4'-bis (dimethylamino) diphenylamine), preferably as 0À005 to 0À15 wt per cent of the composition, and either a peroxidative active compound or hydrogen peroxide respectively. The peroxidative - active compound may be peroxidase, for example in proportion 0À01% to 0À05%, haemoglobin or a molybdate. The hydrogen peroxide may be produced by oxidation of glucose. Compositions exemplified comprise glucose oxidase, peroxidase, carrageen, dioctyl sodium sulphosuccinate, trismalonate buffer, and the indicator; glucose oxidase, peroxidase, carrageen, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, citrate buffer, maleic anhydride - methylvinyl ether copolymer, sodium lauroyl sarcosinate and the indicator. The compositions may be in the form of tablets, powders or solutions, or may be impregnated into strips.
