Isothiazole derivatives with an alkyl substituent in the 3-position; an alkoxycarbonyl or cyano group in the 4-position; and a grouping -NHCONR3R4 in the 5-position, R3 being hydrogen and R4 being alkyl or alkenyl or cyclopropyl when the 4-position substituent is alkoxycarbonyl, or R3 and R4 each represent methyl or ethyl when the 4-position substituent is cyano, possess herbicidal properties against dicotyledonous and monocotyledonous weeds.
