Aqueous solutions containing 10-10,000 ppm of a carboxy vinyl polymer (e.g., Carbopol 961) and 10-10,000 ppm of a partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (e.g., Dow 700) impart improved oil recovery in flooding subterranean oil-bearing formations.
