ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREApparatus fox irrigating and draining an area, com-prises a water impermeable receptacle positioned beneath thesurface of the area and extending beneath the area to be drainedand irrigated, a porous layer capable of supporting a load andpositioned in the receptacle beneath the surface of the area,and at least one flow conduit in flow connection with thereceptacle for the flow of water to and from the porous layer.The porous layer has an inherent capillarity effective to causewater flow beneath the area, and a filter layer extends over theupper surface of the porous layer.
