In an installation for the supply of steam connected to, but remote from, an atomic power station, with a device for heat transfer from the steam/water circuit of the power station to the steam/water circuit of the remote steam-producing installation (a) this heat transfer device consists of a surface heat exchanger in which the agent receiving the heat is water under pressure heated by steam obtained from the steam circuit of the power station (b) the pressure of the water in this heat exchanger is greater than that of the heating steams and selected so that no vaporisation of the water under pressure is produced in the heat exchanger and that generation of steam remotely from the power station is achieved by removal of the pressure on the heated pressurised water. Eliminates any risk of radioactivity in the remote steam-generating and using circuit e.g. due to a defect in the steam/water circuit at the power station, since the pressure of the water exceeds that of the heating steam from the power station.
