Mechanism to launch inflatable raft from drilling platform - lowers raft on winched cable whilst steering it on guides fixed to platform

The mechanism is intended for launching floating rescue means (1), particularly an inflatable raft, from a relatively high position on a production platform (7). The mechanisms comprises a lowering cable (3) which runs off e.g. a winch which cable is at its free end (4) secured to the raft, and one or more guide elements (6) secured to the platform, which are slidingly engaged by the raft. The guide elements may extend to below water level where they may be connected with the platform structure, or they may be weighted. They may consist of cables which may be connected to winch drums on the platform.
