1463608 Magnesium alloy MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON Ltd 29 Dec 1975 [30 Dec 1974] 56021/74 Heading C7A Magnesium-based alloys suitable for aeronautical applications contain Mg Bal, over 88% + Fe and other impurities. *RE contains at least 60% neodymium and preferably not more than 25% total Ce + La. Optimum properties in alloys containing less than 0À1% Al are achieved by S.T. over 485 C, preferably 520-525‹C. Quench. Age 100-275‹C, preferably 200‹C. Alloys containing 0À1-0À15% Cu should be solution treated in a two stage treatment to avoid liquation of the Cu-rich phase, by heating at 400-485‹C preferably 470‹C, followed by a period at over 485‹C, preferably 520-525‹C, prior to quenching and ageing as before.
