1500557 Gas-blast circuit-breakers MERLIN GERIN 14 Nov 1975 [20 Nov 1974] 47142/75 Heading H1N A puffer type gas-blast circuit-breaker with co-operating nozzle contacts 24, 41 has an insulating orifice member 20 surrounding the contact separation region and having its inner surface provided with a cylindrical section 50 to which the gas (preferably sulphur hexafluoride) passes from a converging section 46 which is connected to the cylindrical section 50 by an annular concave surface 52 forming a ridge 48 where it joins the cylindrical section 50. The orifice member 20 and puffer piston 14 are mounted on the movable contact carrier 16 and the contact 41 is mounted thereon with a lostmotion coupling 43 allowing movement "a" for pressure build-up before contact separation.
