Mercapto-substd. azole derivs. of formula (I) (where X is O, S, NH, NCH3 or NB in which B is benzyl or 4-methoxybenzyl; and R is -CH2OCH2COOR1, CH2OCH2CONR1R2 or CONR1R2 in which R1 and R2 are H or 1-4C alkyl R being other than CONH2 when X is NH, NCH3 or N-benzyl) e.g. 2-(carboxymethoxymethyl) 1,3,4-thiadiazole-5-thiol and their ammonium and alkali metal salts are new cpds. (I) are inters. for cephalosporins.
