1376951 Portable containers; container closures L'OREAL 9 March 1972 [15 March 1971 25 Jan 1972] 11027/72 Headings B8D and B8T A device for separately storing constituents 2 and 7 comprises a container 1, a cup 5 held on the rim of the container neck, and a slidablymounted trocar 16, which is adapted to pierce both a cover 9 of the cup and the cup base on movement of the trocar from a stored position and thus facilitate mixing of the constituents and which is restrained from inadvertent piercing displacement. As shown, a removable safety clip 17 is releasably disposed between the rim of a cap 14 carrying the trocar and a container wall abutment to prevent inadvertent piercing trocar movement. The cap provides a dispensing spout 15 and slidably engages a screwed sleeve 10 retaining the sealed cup on the neck rim. In a modification, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the spout, which is sealed at the tip, extends from the base of the container. The cup cover 9 is of aluminium foil and the other components of the device are of plastics. In another embodiment, Figs. 5-8 (not shown), a sealed aluminium foil cup is crimped to the container neck rim, and the trocar is mounted for sliding movement on the container by a pair of arms 155 which extend from a dispensing spout member and which are adapted to slide in a pair of axial container wall recesses 150 after a safety clip 156 has been removed and the arms rotated to align the arms with the recesses. In a final embodiment, Figs. 9-12 (not shown), the trocar is carried by a dispensing spout member, which co-operates with projections 250 on the container wall to prevent piercing of the cup until cut-outs 251 are rotatably aligned with the projections.
