A process for the production of this antibiotic comprises aerobic cultivation of Streptomyces ramocissimus (C.B.S. 190.69) or antibiotic MYC 8003 producing mutants thereof, in an aqueous nutrient medium containing assimilable sources of carbon, nitrogen and separating the antibiotic formed during the cultivation. A method of accelerating the growth of a domestic animal comprises feeding to the animal a feedstuff containing a growthpromoting amount of the antibiotic MYC 8003 or a salt thereof.
