Mono and dihydrazides of the cis-cis, cis-trans and trans- trans isomers of methylated muconic acids including &agr;-methylmuconic acid, &bgr;-methylmuconic acid, &agr;,&agr;'-dimethylmuconic acid, &agr;, &bgr;'-dimethylmuconic acid, &agr;,&agr;',&bgr;-trimethylmuconic acid, &agr;,&bgr;,&bgr;'-trimethylmuconic acid and &agr;,&agr;',. beta.,&bgr;'- tetramethylmuconic acid. The compounds are suitable for use in rubber stabilization, rubber curing and plant growth regulation.
