Device consists of a roughly cylindrical transparent plastic casing on the outside of which are printed centre markings on the sides and ends, and on the inside of which a body of cross-shaped cross-section is mounted so that it can pivot in two axes. The whole unit can be mounted very easily on the chassis of a hand-held drill or ther tool, by means of an extension spring which is wrapped round any convenient part of the tool. The body inside the cylinder takes up a horizontal position by means of small, attached weights and the tool can then be aligned to ensure that it is horizontal or vertical in one plane. In the other plane, a protractor-type scale is provided so that any desired angle can be attained simply by altering the position of the tool. In this way, in th case of a drill, a hole may be bored in some predetermined direction with good accuracy.
