Apparatus for teaching swimming consists of a frame made up of a set of arches (1) resting on the bottom of a swimming bath, with their cross rails well above the water level, onto which are clamped runner rails (2) inside which travel carriages or sliders, from which are suspended hangers (8) each with a loop (9) at the bottom, to encircle the body of the swimmer, leaving his arms and legs free, so that he is suspended in the water and able to follow the track formed by the rails. This track can be in the form of a closed loop. The rails of the track may have spindles through them, with locking handles, so that the open edges of the rails can be sprung together to increase the friction on the carriages, which must be overcome by the efforts of the swimmer.
