Title cpds. of formula (I) (where X is CH2 or CH2CH2; Y is Cl, CN or CF3 and m is 1-3) are prepd. by reacting an N-(substd. phenyl)-1,2,4-triazolidine-3,5-dione with cyclopentadiene or cyclohexadiene in the presence of an oxidising agent esp. Pb(Ac)4., PbO2 or MnO2. And optionally a Lewis acid e.g AlCl3.
