Liq. mineral oil prods. are sepd. from their mixt. with water level in several (three) stages, each with a coalescence filter, made of a material with a higher wettability for the liquid mineral oil prods. than for water. The coalescence filter divides each separator tank into an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. Each inlet chamber communicates with a fluid column in a vessel which drives the mixt. through the separator stage concerned by its hydrostatic pressure. This facilitates the check of the flow resistance (and thereby of the degree of contamination) of each coalescence filter during operation. Each filter and each collector cowl can be dismantled and reassembled individually for cleaning, if necessary.
