The seat mounting is bolted to a plate which in turn is e.g. welded to two flat sections joined to a bar which can swivel and move to-and-fro in a support tube. The seat mounting can therefore swivel about the axis of the bar and be locked in any desired angular position by means of a locking catch which is rigidly mounted on the seat system's main L-shaped carrier beam and can be selectively engaged in one of the three engaging slits in a segment welded to the bottom of the two flat sections. The locking mechanism can be disengaged by a lever system operated by the driver and acting directly on the swivel bar.
