The system incorporates vertical columns and horizontal girders, and at least the columns are hollow steel profile sections filled with water. Water supply and discharge pipes are connected to them at top and bottom. Means are included for generating a flow of water through them in the event of fire breaking out, so as to maintain their rigidity for the maximum possible period. The girders can similarly be hollow, with water flowing between them and the columns, and the water feed and discharge pipes can be interconnected to form a closed circuit, a water make-up tank at the top being also included. Sprinklers, opening automatically at a preset temperature can be connected to columns and girders.
