Measurement of intracardiac and intravascular pressure - with automatic control of reference pressure value for ease of operation

Apparatus for measuring and/or recording intracardiac and intravascular pressure comprises a hollow catheter to one end of which is connected a mechanical-to-electrical pressure transducer, maintained in pressure contact with the measuring point by liquid filling of the catheter. Connected to the output of the transducer via an electroconductive connection is a carrier frequency amplifier with automatic zero balance means. A three-way valve inserted in the catheter in front of the transducer serves for removal of blood and flushing of the catheter, and is coupled to the zero balance means in one valve position which produces the reference pressure (zero pressure) at the instrument end of the catheter, the zero balance means is automatically actuated.
