Dispensing tap for drink cans, containers etc. comprises a housing secured to the can to contain an axially free but non-twisting piercer which is hollow and carries the tap at the outer end. A seal ring at the inner end of the housing can be forced axially onto the can wall in conjunction with a driving sleeve which rotates in the housing, pushes the piercer axially inward and at the same time compresses the seal. The sleeve (14) is now axially located and fitted with cams (18, 19) for axially moving the piercer (6), and compressing the ring seal (5) respectively, the cams differing in and/or alternating in pitch. Preferably the sleeve should use a cam slot (20) to engage a driver (21) for axial movement of the piercer, whilst the ring seal operating cam (19) is fitted to the endface (22) of the sleeve.
