The two probes sensitive to magnetic fields are arranged, on the side of the working air gap, on the stator at an interval which is greater than the active width of the rotor slots and smaller than the division of the rotor slots. The two test voltages from the probes are delivered to a maximum value selector stage for the purpose of forming a smoothed test voltage. The two probes can be arranged at the bases of L-shaped carriers which are inserted in holes on two adjacent stator teeth. The L-shaped carriers can be inserted through venting slits in the middle of the stack of stator sheets.
