Hammer mill comprises a single-part roller-shaped rotor with axially and tangentially offset recesses in the form of segment-shaped slits in which the hammers are mounted pivotably. Pref. the slits are arranged in pairs of diametrically opposed slits offset by 90 deg. from the next adjacent pair in the axial direction. All the hammer are mounted on shafts extending throughout the rotor through holes in the segment-shaped rotor portions between the slits. The design facilitates the incorporation of bearing points and pivot paths for the hammers.
