Low friction support for thermostat actuator stem in automobiles - moving stem locates in support clip hole

A mounting arrangement for the thermostat in the air cooling system of an automobile is manufactured with light support to the output pin and such that protection is given against transverse vibrations. The thermostat bellows (1) has a fixed projection (2) at one end that is secured with a threaded nut (11) to an angle bracket (4) mounted on the vehicle. The thermostat stem (14), which moves axially with temperature changes in guided and supported by a preformed spring slip (16) that is shaped to locate on an angle bracket (3) mounted in a fixed position. Minimum contact area exists between the clip and the stem in order to minimise friction. An actuator projection (16) operates the cooling control unit.
