Plasma-jet arc welding power source - for use with continuous uni-directional pulse and bidirectional pulse arcs

A plasma-jet arc welding power source (for use in both automatic and manual welding of ferrous, non-ferrous and lightweight metals, e.g. Al or Mg) comprises a first d.c. source connected on the positive side to the workpiece and on the negative side, via the series-aiding connecting of a SCR and a diode, to the electrode, and a second d.c. source the no-load voltage of which is sufficient to maintain a stable reverse-polarity arc, connected on its positive side to the nozzle of the welding gun and on its negative side via another series aiding connection of a SCR and a diode to the workpiece. The like electrodes of the SCR's are interconnected via capacitors.
